Domaine Bonneau du Martray At the summit of the Corton hill, the eleven hectares of vineyards of Domaine Bonneau du Martray form a unique continuous block — an exceptional configuration for this appellation. The vineyard is anchored in the heart of the prestigious Climat Charlemagne, where abundant luminosity caresses the vines without ever subjecting them to excessive heat. The domaine's approach is built on meticulous attention: massal selection of plants, drastic yield control, constant care devoted to each parcel. From this rigour are born two exceptional cuvées — the Corton Charlemagne white, of refined distinction and elegance, and the Corton red, whose opulence remains always contained and balanced. A heritage shaped by history At the head of the domaine, Jean-Charles LE BAULT DE LA MORINIÈRE perpetuates a prestigious lineage. The clergy long honoured these lands, elevating the domaine to the rank of the finest expressions of the Charlemagne climat. The Bonneau du Martray family descend from Chancellor Nicolas ROLIN (1376-1462), founder of the Hospices de Beaune alongside his wife Guigonne DE SALINS. This family once held the entirety of the Charlemagne climat. The current estate results from the union between Charles BONNEAU DU MARTRAY and Marie-Eugénie VÉRY. A refocused vineyard In the past, the family also cultivated parcels in Volnay, notably in the lieux-dits En-Caillerets, Village, La-Gigotte and La-Cave. Today, all the vines are concentrated on the Corton hill, distributed between the communes of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton, exclusively within the Charlemagne climats.
