Under the direction of Jean-François Coche-Dury, an iconic figure of renowned generosity, this Domaine embodies Burgundian excellence. La Revue du Vin de France regularly celebrates these exceptional bottles, yet they remain so difficult to track down. Considered one of the most prestigious vineyards in the region, it produces benchmark cuvées. The names Corton Charlemagne and Meursault "Perrières" resonate like oenological myths, known to all but tasted by few. Each bottle is born of rigorous artisanal expertise, where nothing is left to chance. The entire range, from Bourgogne to Aligoté, through the various expressions of Meursault — Chevalières, Rougeots — as well as the coveted 1ers crus Caillerets, Genévrières and Perrières, bears witness to this exacting standard. Founded between the two World Wars, the Domaine experienced its rise from 1964 when Georges Coche developed the vineyards and favoured direct sales, breaking with the tradition of bulk sales to négociants. His son Jean-François Coche-Dury took over the reins in 1972 and continued this qualitative approach. His singular land strategy favours exchange: for each acquisition of a privileged parcel corresponds the sale of another less favourably exposed. The objective remains vineyard excellence, not expansion. Today, Raphaël Coche-Dury accompanies his father in this adventure. Across 10.5 hectares of vines — including 9 hectares in Meursault complemented by parcels in Pommard, Monthélie, Auxey-Duresses, Puligny-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne — the Domaine produces approximately 60,000 bottles annually. The viticulture respects the fundamentals, but with obsessive precision. Drastic and meticulous pruning guarantees controlled yields. This rigour continues in the cellar through vinification of impeccable Burgundian authenticity. The white wines distinguish themselves by their crystalline purity and remarkable vivacity, combined with significant ageing potential. On the red side, Jean-François Coche-Dury also signs cuvées of great distinction, where Pinot Noir reveals all its aromatic elegance and characteristic finesse.
