Established in Volnay since the 19th century, Domaine Michel Lafarge stands as one of the most emblematic jewels of Burgundy. This family estate, rooted in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, has built a global reputation around an authentic and classic interpretation of the Burgundian terroir. Its cuvées are distinguished by a dense architecture and assertive structure that, over the years, reveal remarkable precision and finesse. The transition to biodynamics was completed in the year 2000 under the guidance of Frédéric Lafarge, successor to his father Michel, across the entire twelve hectares of the property. This philosophy aims to restore the very essence of each climat, without artifice or compromise. The approach relies on meticulous soil work, harvesting at optimal maturity, vinification with destemmed grapes, spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts, delicate extractions, and measured, discreet barrel ageing for many cuvées. The next generation is now ensured by Chlotilde, who works alongside her father Frédéric to continue this family saga while bringing her own vision. The evolution is felt in the reds: always as full-bodied and structured, they gain in suppleness thanks to perfectly ripe and silky tannins, developing refined elegance without ever compromising their exceptional ageing potential. As for the whites, they retain their characteristic density while becoming more approachable, unfolding subtle aromas where terroir, butter and brioche interplay with a beautiful mineral presence.
